Apartments sell for gold

A local investor paid $2.7 million for a 38-unit apartment complex at 215 McMillan Ave. in Bay Minette, according to Jacob Napper of Gulfbelt Properties, who represented the buyer. Jonathan Keith of Keith Realty worked for the seller. Known as Bay Apartments, the new owner plans to rename it Cypress Crossing.

Peritas Brands has leased a 38,500 square foot warehouse at 5235 Kooiman Road in Theodore and plans to open a distribution facility, according to David Dexter of CRE Mobile, who represented the tenant. Peritas Brands is based in Niceville, Florida and is a national distributor of Paw Inspired pet hygiene supplies. Peritas was looking for a location near the Port of Mobile. Mitchum Jackson of Heggeman Realty represented the owner.

HELOCA Massage Spa has leased 1,120 square feet of space at 940 Schillinger Road in Mobile, according to Mike Reid of Merrill P Thomas Co. HELOCA plans to open in mid-September and offer massage and spa services in the renovated space. The business is in the mall anchored by Aaron’s Rental Store.

A Circle K convenience store will be built at the northeast corner of Baldwin County 64 and Ala. 181 in the Belforest area, according to the Baldwin County Planning Commission. The existing building on the 7.7 acre site will be demolished.

A site plan has been approved for eight buildings to house student workers on property east of Juniper Street and south of Stabler Way in Foley, according to the Foley Planning Commission. J1 worker housing will accommodate international college students who have J1 worker status. A total of 306 working students can be accommodated in each building. Temporary workers generally work at host companies in the area and shuttle service would be provided to job sites.
