Things are not looking for Edward “Cagney” Matthews, who went viral in July because of his racist rant against his black neighbor. As you may remember, Edward also challenged people to stop if something went wrong. A crowd of protesters therefore accepted his invitation and later the police took Edward away and was arrested. Currently, the Burlington County District Attorney’s Office has announced new charges against Edward, with individual charges against four protesters.
âThe only evidence of Matthew’s anger is that the justice system will eventually step in and hold him accountable for the harassment campaigns against him not only on that day, but in other cases and in the aggregate as well. What we have made possible is that the African American members of Essex Place HOA have been members for 14 months, âthe prosecutor’s report said.
The racist conflict took place on July 2 in Mount Laurel, New Jersey. Edward actively approached his black neighbor and shouted a racial insult. He shouted at his neighbor to learn the law and called him a “monkey”.
After all, his viral moments weren’t the first time he had acted this way against his black neighbor. However, Mount Laurel Police said they handled previous complaints against Edward on a case-by-case basis. This means that his racist illicit activity was not verified because there was no criminal activity in the individual case or there was insufficient evidence to prosecute him. But the prosecution says it was no favor.
âBut the MLPD may not have been aware of the real problem. A racist campaign until Matthew harasses African American members of the HOA board of directors until he leaves the board and the house. âWe did it,â the prosecutor’s report said.
45 years Charging 22 offenses or offenses covering âsix separate cases, including harassment, vandalism and harmful crimes against neighborsâ. All are identified as African Americans.
The prosecution said the indictment was “pending”. This means that Edward “benefits everyone from the presumption of innocence.” Currently, Edwards has been in police custody since his first arrest.
Four protesters were also charged with their post-arrest actions and actions as police escorted Edward from a townhouse to a police car. Each crime was reportedly captured by camera or broadcast on a local news program on the night of the protest.
“These actions include spraying pepper spray at police officers and Matthews, spitting at police officers, throwing bricks through the windows of Matthews’ house, throwing stones at the police and Matthews police cars.” . It was about putting in a police car and hitting it to damage it. A police car, âthe report said.
This is a developing story.
