Emile Smith Rowe’s thoughts on Aston Villa transfer interests despite Arsenal’s tough stance

Emile Smith Rowe is said to be “blown away” by Aston Villa’s interest in him as they try to tempt the playmaker at Villa Park.

Arsenal have already rejected two offers for the 20-year-old, but Villa are close to making more offers.

The Gunners are adamant that Smith Rowe, who became a full-fledged figure in the Emirates last season, will not be sold.

That hasn’t stopped Villa from taking a chance, however, and club managers are said to be positive about how the talks go.

Sporting director Johan Lange and CEO Christian Purslow will both be key figures and the former is encouraged by the discussions so far.

Smith Rowe is set for face-to-face talks with Arsenal’s hierarchy in the coming days as they aim to finalize his future plans.

Emile Smith Rowe faces decision about his future

The England Under-21 star is in control of his fate, however, and will have the final say, Birmingham Live reports.

Villa has already added Emi Buendia and Ashley Young and wants to continue their summer activities.

Dean Smith has invested wisely since his team was promoted and an intermediate end of the table in their second year back in the top flight underscored their progress.

Smith Rowe saw his former teammate Emiliano Martinez trade the Emirates for Villa Park last year and gain many admirers.

The goalkeeper claimed he was taking a step forward, despite the difference in stature between the two clubs, and kept two clean sheets as Villa doubled against Arsenal last season.

Villa’s most recent bid for Smith Rowe, which was turned down, was £ 30million.

Their desire to sign the Arsenal man suggests Jack Grealish may be on the move.

Mikel Arteta is however leading a redesign in North London and will be desperate to keep some people, Smith Rowe is one of them.

He and Bukayo Saka have become mainstays of the starting XI in the second half of the season and the Gunners boss has high regard for his playmaker.

Despite this, footbal.london recently claimed that there has been little progress in talks over Smith Rowe’s future so far.

In May, Arteta said the academy graduate could become part of Europe’s top flight once he adds more goals and assists to his game.

“He’s had an amazing season since he started playing in December,” said the Spaniard.

“But he scores his first Premier League goal. An incredible season for a No.10 Arsenal means he has to score 15 goals and give 10 assists.

“Then you’re one of the best guys in Europe and in the league. He has the ability to do it but he didn’t.

“We have to stay calm with him, give him the right support and step by step I think he will get there.”
