Aston Villa still expected interest in Manchester City target Jack Grealish this summer, Express & Star reporter Luke Hatfield said.
Reports erupted last month suggesting the Premier League champions would try to sign Villa captain this transfer window, with Sky Sports claiming an offer could be made soon.
Despite missing much of the season with injury, Grealish was still arguably Villa’s best performer in the 2020/21 campaign.
Is Buendia worth £ 40million?
The 25-year-old attacking midfielder provided more Premier League assists (10) than any other Villa player and also completed the tenure as the top dribbler of Dean Smith’s squad after recording an average of 2.5 dribbles per game (via WhoScored).
On City’s interest in Grealish, Hatfield said FFC:
“We always expected that there would be interest in Villa. And it would be foolish not to expect that given his performances over the season and what he’s obviously doing for England now.
In terms of admissions this summer, Villa has already signed Emiliano Buendia from Norwich City for a record £ 40million.
Like Grealish, Buendia also prospered last season helping Norwich reclaim his promotion to the Premier League. In 39 league games, the Argentina playmaker has scored 15 goals and provided 16 assists.
With Grealish and Buendia on the flanks, Villa could have quite the attack this coming campaign if they can keep the England international.
