A building in Laurel, Maryland was damaged after a tree fell on Sunday, authorities said.
Firefighters responded to reports of a tree falling into an apartment in the 13100 block of Larchdale Road at around 11.30am. At the scene they discovered a large tree had fallen onto an apartment block with multi-storey garden, according to Prince George’s County. Firefighters.
When firefighters arrived, they helped the initially reported trapped residents evacuate the building. It was not immediately known how many residents were inside at the time of the incident.
Firefighters are still determining what caused the tree to fall. Sunday winds have been planned be between 25 and 30 mph.
No injuries were reported.
The tree damaged several apartments at the back of the building, firefighters said.
Photos show that the branches of the tree punched a hole in the roof of the apartment, then knocked down the railings of several porches as well as furniture. What remains of the base of the tree can be seen on the ground floor. Its branches got tangled in the upper floors of the apartment.
The Prince George’s County Emergency Management Office was on the scene to help displaced residents.
