Port Jefferson businesses join forces on Wednesday, December 22 to spread the holiday cheer with the village’s first-ever Santa Con.
From 7 p.m. to 10 p.m., the Whiskey Barrel and several other participating bars and restaurants offer drink specials, freebies and more throughout the evening.
“There are nights in Port Jeff where it’s pretty calm, and it’s a bit worrying on those nights when there is no one around and there is no snow on the ground. It’s not cold, it’s just a dead night, ”said David Tracy, Whiskey Barrel co-owner. “I felt that bars and restaurants should have their own little thing. ”
Tracy first contacted her neighbor, SpyCoast, with the idea of hosting the event together.
But once the word got out, six other restaurants joined us.

Tickets are not required, and people who wish to join in the fun are encouraged to dress up as Santa Claus, wear an ugly Christmas sweater, or other festive attire.
Tracy said Whiskey Barrel will be offering free mulled wine and brown sugar bourbon shots for $ 2. There will also be a t-shirt giveaway and other giveaways.
The winter months can be slow for businesses in Port Jefferson Village, Tracy said, so this Santa Con aims to increase foot traffic and give people a reason to bundle up and venture out on a weeknight. cold.
“Hopefully we get a bunch of people who just want to go out and eat and drink and dress up as Santa,” Tracy said. “If it’s a big hit and people love it, we’ll use it and see if we can make it an annual thing.”
Check the participating businesses’ Facebook pages to stay up to date on promotions they have planned.
