Tottenham Hotspur fans have claimed that Aston Villa boss Steven Gerrard “copies” Antonio Conte.
What is the story?
The telegraph report that Gerrard has banned sodas and sauces since taking over from Villa, as he reviews nutritional plans for his new team.
The news comes just after Conte takes the exact same step at Tottenham.
The Athletic says Spurs players are no longer allowed to eat butter, ketchup or mayonnaise at Hotspur Way.
The dietary changes are designed to help Spurs players get fit enough to play Conte-style.
And Tottenham fans believe Gerrard may well have taken a leaf from their manager’s book.
A new approach
Gerrard has never been reported to ban carbonated drinks from Rangers, so this feels like a new step for him.
It seems highly unlikely, however, that he simply nipped Conte’s idea.
Gerrard quickly turns out to be one of football’s most impressive future managers.
He got off to a good start at Villa, having guided them to victory against Brighton & Hove Albion this weekend.
Conte has also been impressed with the work he has done at Tottenham so far.
Spurs players have worked hard on the training ground, but the results are already being felt.
Tottenham go further and play with more intensity than ever under Nuno, and they remain unbeaten under the Italian to this day.
If these kinds of results continue, there may well be more managers considering banning soft drinks in the future!
