The Village of Homer has extended deadlines for the compost site on North Fulton Street and leaf pick-up this year.

The composting site will be open until November 30 instead of October 31 to dispose of the elements of this after Saturday’s amnesty day. The village will post a notice on its website when the area is cleared of Amnesty Day items..

The opening hours of the composting site will be from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. If the village receives two feet of snow before November 30, the site will close early.

The collection of leaves and branches in the village has been extended from October 31 to November 14. If leaves and branches are not picked up at a residence by November 14, residents are asked to call the village office at 607-749-3322, where they will be put on a list with their address. Residents can also email information to [email protected].

The leaf and brush pick-up list will close at 4:30 p.m. on November 16, the same time the village office closes. The Village Public Works Departments (DPW) will continue to collect during this time. However, starting November 17, DPW will continue to make pickups until the list is complete. Once the list is complete, pickups will not be made until May next year.

If residents have branches or other yard waste damaged by the storm between November 16 and May 1, they are asked to call the village office to report it.
